our blog
There really is no excuse for my lack of writing, except that I am having just too much fun with Pacifica (and being pregnant makes me insanely exhausted). It doesn’t seem possible but every month just keeps getting better and better. I hope I am still having as much fun when there are two running around, March seems so close sometimes!
Pacifica is starting small pretend play scenarios. She “talks” on the phone, feeds her babies and favorite monkey Alex the bottle and pacifier. She also uses my makeup brushes to brush all our cheeks (monkey’s included). We are doing some “Love and Logic” techniques that really seem to be helping. She will stop her whining pretty quickly when given the choice to do “a” (whatever that may be) or to throw a fit in her room. Although she does sometimes choose to through a fit in her room that is alright by me, we all need to vent sometimes and she is learning to take it somewhere else and come back and try again when she is calm. She is saying a lot of word-like sounds and even some words but not all consistently. Often if you ask her what sound a lion makes she will go “roar!”.
The nights are going much better, Pacifica is finally sleeping all the way straight through from 7:30pm to um....... 5am. Which is EARLY. This week I am trying an experiment. I bought her a fun new lap and put it on a timer, the light turn off around 7pm and back on just before 6am. If she wakes up before the lamp turns on I go into her room, give her a kiss and tell her “it’s still night time until the light turns on”. It’s too early to tell if it’ll help - hopefully I’ll give an positive report in a few weeks.
